Remember when Alexa first came out? She was great at connecting your smart home devices, good at setting alarms, and great for getting your kids to add items to the grocery list.  But, if you wanted to know something, you had to ask Google. Alexa wasn't good at finding facts.  She'd just say, "hmmmm, I’m not sure about that."

Well, apparently times have changed! Business Insider asked Siri, Alexa, and Google Home, 10 questions to see which one is the smartest. The questions were pretty random, from, "How many medals did the US team get in the last Olympics?" to, "How old would John Lennon be today?" to,  "Where do babies come from?",  And, just so you're aware, you want to be careful which one you ask, "Where do babies come from."

The answers, on each device, varied quite a bit from question to question. The only major surprise was, Siri didn't know when the Apple iPhone first came out.  The other two speakers did.  An interesting twist was when Alexa responded to one question, with an option to purchase a related item.

To determine which smart speaker was smartest, the answers were judged by correctness, and completeness.  The count of best answers were added up for each speaker.

And the winner was? Alexa! Apparently, Amazon has been working on having Alexa figure out what the question means, and, where to find the answer. I wonder how that will continue to shape the Smart Speaker market share. But, we, are the winners when giants like Amazon, Google, and Apple, are competing to bring us a great product.
